How to secure a wedding veil

How to secure a wedding veil

Brides often have lots of questions about how to place and secure a wedding veil. This is understandable because for the majority of the brides, their wedding is the first and only time they will wear a veil. We have created a detailed guide to help you navigate this process.

First, think about your hairstyle. Do you have curly and thick or straight and thin hair? Do you plan to have your hair up, down or in a ponytail? Think of your hair as the base for the veil. Reach out to your veil designer to request additional information about veils that suit your hair type or hairstyle.

Second, choose your veil type. Are you looking for a dramatic lace veil with a long train? Are you eloping and want a mini veil with a little character? Are you having a garden wedding and would like a colorful embroidered bridal veil? We love making custom veils and would love to help you find something perfect for you personally!

Step three, get your veil (the easiest part!)

Take a look at our comb! We make veils on a flat metal comb with sharp teeth. Compared to standard wired comb, this one stays in hair much better and can be bent to your head shape (also, unbent back to flat form)!

Next, try placing the comb into your hair. We always recommend you have someone to help you out - a hairstylist, a bridesmaid or mother. Most of the time, you would not need to do any extra steps and your veil will stay in place. Consider, where do you want to put it exactly - on the top of your head, at the back, in the up do? This alone can drastically change the whole look!

If your hair is fine and silky, the comb might still slip. Luckily, there are some easy fixes for that! First, try slightly teasing the hair in the place where you want to put the veil. Then, move the comb upward before sliding it downward. If you still need extra security, use some hairspray on the comb after you place it (bobby pins in the color of your hair would work great too).

Lastly, if your veil has a blusher. flip it forward before stepping out down the aisle. Smooth out the folds and make sure you feel comfortable moving your head under it.

Now you've secured your veil, yay! If you still encounter any issues, feel free to contact us any time, we would love to help you navigate throughout this process. Remember, that the most important thing is enjoying your moment and not making everything perfect!

With love,

Anna
