What do brides wear instead of veils?

Wedding veils have for a long time been a staple in bridal styling. They are still the perfect companion for the bride to walk down the aisle with. But what if you don’t want to wear a veil? Maybe you have never imagined yourself wearing one or you have a different vision for your bridal outfit? You can check out these options to wear instead of a veil.

Cape

An underrated bridal accessory that is having a comeback in the 2026-2027 wedding season. A bridal cape not only works well as extra coverage in winter weddings but also showcases the bride’s personality and expression of her style. A cape can be of different types and fabrics - silky chiffon gently draping behind, invisible tulle cover up or voluminous tulle wings with glitter.

Bow

A captivating choice for the brides who do not want a traditional wedding veil. Ever since Ariana Grande debuted her veil with a bow, we have seen a resurgence of this accessory in bridal styling. The possibilities here are truly endless! You can choose a small delicate bow (or several bows!) to place in your hair or go big with an oversized bow, even a colorful one, to make a statement.

Headscarf

One of the newest trends of the last year - bridal headscarves or bandanas. An excellent choice for a beach wedding, a boho inspired bridal outfit or a bachelorette party. They come in a variety of different fabrics to coordinate with a plethora of styles - from airy tulle to Chantilly lace, from silk to organza. They can be pre-styled (meaning that you just have to put them on) or come in a piece of fabric that you would need to tie around your head how it best fits you.

Mini veil

Even if you are not a fan of a veil, consider giving a mini veil a chance. It is not as overwhelming as a long cathedral veil and it can still be a fun outfit enhancer, reflecting your styling choice. It can be colorful and sparkly or have some lace trim. A short veil is a great companion for a short dress at an elopement and for a long gown with an open back, keeping it exposed.
